Congratulations to Hometown Champion, Aly Raisman!

I've been on a balance beam before. It's 4 inches wide. It's narrow...it's REALLY narrow. I remember how our gym teacher used to make us walk across it in class. I can't even begin to imagine how Aly Raisman and her other four teammates can make it happen on that balance beam. But hometown girl, Aly Raisman (who is from Needham, MA) made a bronze medal happen yesterday in London after a tense debate over the scoring. After contesting her low score, Aly was granted an adjusted higher score which resulted in a tie with the athlete from Romania. The tie was broken in her favor and she moved up from 4th to bronze medal position! She was also the first American woman to win the Floor Exercise at the Olympics. It was totally amazing to watch her on the floor as she looked as though she was flying! A truly fabulous feat! I still don't know how anyone can even hop on a balance beam and not kill themselves. Gymnasts are magical! Congratulations, Aly! You've done Boston proud!!!!
